Boisdale Consolidated School shares a rich history with many local communities in the district.

In the early 1940’s, the idea of the consolidation of small rural schools was initiated, creating feelings of both
trepidation and excitement within the community. The State schools at Boisdale, Boisdale Estate,
Briagolong, Lllowalong, Newry, Riverslea, Tinamba, Upper Maffra East and Valencia Creek were all to be

Consolidation began in the late 1940’s and the “SEVEN LITTLE SCHOOLS IN ONE” became a reality in
1951, with Boisdale, Boisdale Estate, Valencia Creek, Newry, Tinamba, Lllowalong and Upper Maffra being
consolidated at the present site.

Several of the original buildings were transported to the site and three of these remain today.

This remains a fascinating period in the history of the school.

Further information can be found in a book written to commemorate the
Consolidation called “Fields of Learning” written by Helen Montague.
This is available for purchase from the school.

Boisdale is situated in a rural, farming community with students travelling on 4 buses from the surrounding
communities of Maffra, Llowalong, Tinamba, Coongulla, Valencia Creek and Newry.

The immediate community of Boisdale, the closest small town to the school, boasts a population of around
350 people spread across a 5 km radius. The town hosts a small general store and motor mechanics, a
newly renovated Public Hall and superb Recreation Reserve with a very active football and netball club, as
well as tennis courts.

A Progress Association, Red Cross group, Landcare Committee, Garden club as well as the district Hill
Climb car racing, History group, CFA Brigade, exercise class, Boisdale News publication and a 5 year
Community Plan, all make this a thriving and active community to be a part of.

The Boisdale township openly welcomes new families to this family orientated community set amongst some
of the most stunning scenery in the district.
