VOLCANO MAKING

On Wednesday 19th August we made Volcanoes in Room10.

First we put all the ingredients together. Flour, salt, water and oil but we didn’t put the food colouring in until the end. We mixed everything together really well and then added the colouring. We wore gloves so that the colour wouldn’t get all over our hands.

When the mixture was ready we got a plastic water bottle and shaped the play dough around it so it looked like a volcano. We filled the bottle nearly to the top with vinegar mixed with red food dye and then we added Bi Carb Soda. The Volcano erupted! It was awesome. The lava spewed over the edge of the Volcano.

It was great fun and everyone’s Volcano worked really well.

WALHALLA EXCURSION

On Friday  7th August we went to Walhalla for our gold excursion. We were going on the Long Tunnel Mine tour. First we went into the museum; it had lots of gold nuggets. Then we went into a room and got safety helmets. When we got into the mine, it was really cold. Sheriff taught us a lot about gold and the mine, he told us that the horses were born in the mine and never got out! When we left the mine we went and had our lunch. Then we went panning for gold in the river, unfortunately our grade didn’t find any gold. Afterwards we went up to the newspaper place and had a look how they made newspapers back in the 1800s. Then we went to the museum and had a look at what clothes they wore. Then we had to go home, it was a great day!!
