Issue 17 - Finding Gold in Walhalla

As we near the end of week 7 numerous classes have been on or have excursions coming up. Many students have told me about their Walhalla experience, which they really enjoyed with the train trip a highlight for many. The 3/4s are participating in a tree planting day next Tuesday, and Grade 1/2s are heading to the Wedge to watch a live performance of the Twits. While it's a busy time for teachers and students, these activities are beneficial for students as they are tied into learning units and expose them to new experiences.

For the last 6 weeks Grade 6 students have been participating in the Kinder Leadership program, attending two Maffra Kindergartens. At the kindergartens they have read to the kinder students, and conducted small group activities. We have been blown away with how the students have built relationships with the kinder students, as well as developed their individual leadership skills. Mrs Smyth and Mr Roberts have done a great job facilitating this program.

Only 2 weeks until the whole school presents the 'Boisdale does the classics' concert. I am looking forward to watching it, and Mrs Martin is working hard to ensure students are ready. We hope to see many families there on Tuesday, 20 June.

Have a great long weekend.
