News From The Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 2 2022!
It has been great to see everyone return happy and ready for learning! This term is set to be jam packed as always; cross country is tomorrow, Parent/Teacher/Student interviews are on Monday, NAPLAN commences Week 3 for Grades 3 and 5, Education Week, Open Day and the Kinder Leadership program commencing soon just to name a few of the happenings coming up before we know it! Thank you to all those who have been involved with the pre work, planning exciting things for our students!
Although we have only been back at school for 3 days, we have had some school council members participating in governance training, and training for the new Spriggy app has commenced for some school community members. More information about Spriggy will come very soon when it is officially launched (basically it’s an app for parents to use to enable online canteen and uniform ordering!)
Belated ANZAC Ceremony
Our belated ANZAC ceremony was held today. We welcomed Chris Lawless (Vietnam War veteran) from the Briagolong RSL to talk to our students about the significance of the day. Thank you for those who were able to attend today.
Instrumental Program
Our Instrumental program has started off and is looking very popular. Tomorrow is the first session for our guitarist and drummers in training. Thank you Ryan Lestrange for offering these instruments for our students to learn. Next Monday, Mrs Martin commences other instrumental lessons for piano and wind so we are very excited about that too!
Boisdale Playgroup returned to our premises this week. We had some very happy under 5’s enjoying the sunshine on Wednesday. Playgroup is run through Uniting Care and is on from 10 am to 12pm every Wednesday. They will have their own Facebook page up and running very soon if you wish to keep up with their news.
New Garden
It shouldn’t be too long before we have builder’s onsite getting ready to develop the area behind the shade shelter for our new sensory garden and inclusive playground. Hopefully by spring, the students will be able to enjoy this new space. I’ll keep you posted on the progress of this space.
Finally, I would like to welcome two new students and their families. They are Oliver in 1/2B and Allan in 1/2M. We also have Braidyn back in 3/4GA and another new student, Aiden, commencing in 5/6E next Tuesday. Welcome everyone!
I am looking forward to the term ahead and being the Acting Principal of our little school on the hill for a while longer, possibly until the end of this term? I’ll keep you posted on that one too!
